Adapted from the CDC. Page last reviewed: March 24, 2023

Antimicrobial stewardship programs should provide regular updates and reports to hospital personnel on process and outcome measures. Sharing facility specific information on antibiotic use is a crucial tool to improve prescribing. Options for providing education on antibiotics include:

  • Didactic presentations
  • Messaging through posters, flyers and newsletters
  • Electronic communications to staff groups
  • Case-based education
  • Patient education
