Description
Often, treatment of asymptomatic bacteriuria is initiated due to positive growth on an unnecessary urine culture. In order to see if this is an issue at NCMC, we want to review the urine cultures that are requested and see if they are warranted.

PDSA Cycles
Progress on PDSA Cycle 1
Testing current usage of UA with Urine culture. I think that we can reduce the number of unnecessary UCs by updating the requirements for a UA with reflex UC. In order to understand what changes, if any, can be made we need to get baseline data of what is currently happening.
We are working with Cerner to create a report that will allow us to review patients with UA and UC. We can then review if patients were treated, and if they were symptomatic. First step is getting the report built.
