Description


Aiming to decrease inappropriate antibiotic usage.

Targeting the Primary Care Clinics and Emergency Room Providers.

Focus on the CDC recommendations of:  Acute Otitis Media, Acute Uncomplicated Bronchitis, Acute Uncomplicated Sinusitis, and Pharyngitis.

Education

Educating clinicians about resistance and optimal prescribing.

Reporting

Regular reporting information on antibiotic use and resistance to doctors, nurses and relevant staff.

Tracking

Monitoring antibiotic prescribing and resistance patterns.

2020 data templates created for automated monthly reports.

Electronic version of Watchful Waiting and Delayed Prescribing created for both Centricity (outpatient clinics) and Meditech (ED).

Presented plan to the Quality Directors meeting 11/8/19.

Presenting plan to the All providers meeting 11/19/19.


Progress on PDSA Cycle 1

Changing from the Non Antibiotic prescription pads to electronic discharge instructions for Watchful Waiting and Delayed Prescribing.

Monitoring/Reporting the individual provider with the targeted diagnosis and antibiotic Rx or Non antibiotic Rx.
